Questions

Questions families ask

If yours is not here, call the camp or send a question.

Which ages is camp for, and how are the groups made?

Camp is for ages 9 to 14. Campers work in three age groups, 9 and 10, 11 and 12, and 13 and 14, each with its own bench and counselor.

Does my camper need to know how to code or build?

No. Every week starts from the beginning, and the older groups take the same project further. A camper who has built or coded before gets a harder version of the same task.

What is a day at camp like?

Campers sign in at 8:30 a.m., read the day's checklist with their group, work through a morning block, have lunch, spend time outside or in the cool lab, and finish with a second block. Pickup is at 3:30 p.m.

How do launches work?

Launch day is Friday afternoon. A rope marks the pad and another marks where campers stand. A range officer calls the checklist and the countdown, and only adults handle motors and igniters. Wind or lightning moves the launch to the next morning.

What do campers bring?

A lunch, a filled water bottle, a hat, closed-toe shoes and a light jacket for the cold lab. We supply every kit, tool and board.

What about heat and rain?

June in Alabama is hot, so outdoor time moves to the cooler hours and the lab is air-conditioned. Rain and lightning move activities inside, and we text families when a launch moves.

How does pickup work, and who can collect my camper?

Only adults on your pickup list, who sign your camper out at the lab door and show photo ID until we know them. If someone new is coming, tell us in writing before that day.

How does tuition work?

Tuition depends on the weeks you book. What sets it, and how it is held and paid, is explained under How tuition works.

How do I hold a place, and what is the waitlist?

A place is held once we have your registration and the first week's payment. When a week is full, families join a waitlist, and we offer places in the order families joined.

Are phones allowed?

Phones and watches stay at home. Campers use camp laptops and boards for the work, and you can always reach your camper through the camp phone.
